A Little Warrior Who Never Stopped Smiling
One of our young survivors came to the ward with overwhelming fear during her first treatments. The days were long, and the medicine was strong, but her smile never left her face. Through YASKA’s weekly activity sessions - from art and craft to reading time - she slowly began to regain confidence and joy.
Her mother shared: “On YASKA days, she smiles more. These simple activities helped her feel like a child again.” Today, she attends school regularly and joins our survivor outings with pride.
A Family’s Journey of Strength
A parent once shared how lonely cancer felt in the first few weeks. They struggled with hospital routines, managing siblings, and emotional exhaustion. YASKA volunteers visited the ward, offering support conversations, care packs, and companionship.
“Those small acts made us feel seen and supported,” the parent said. Their child has since completed treatment and joins our annual awareness events to inspire others.
Survivors Who Became Role Models
Many of our survivors return to YASKA events to encourage new families beginning the journey. Their courage symbolizes hope - showing younger patients that they, too, can overcome the long nights, the fear, and the challenges of treatment. At survivor camps, these children often hold hands, talk, laugh, and discover they’re not alone.
